Home teams are simply dominating the visiting teams so far in the 2nd round. Aside from LA v. Utah on Friday and NO v. SA on Thursday, all the games have been blowouts for the most part.
I figured that Okur and Boozer would step up enough for the Jazz to win 2 or 3 games. But the Jazz lack a versatile shooting guard. Korver can shoot, but can't play D. Brewer can finish inside but can't shoot. Eventually the Lakers’ versatility will overmatch the Jazz, not to mention Kobe and Pau's play.
I don't see anything changing for Saturday's games. Lebron will flourish with some home cooking, as will Boobie, Wally and any other role players. The Celtic's D isn't as ferocious on the road as it is at home. The Hawks scored about 100 pts/gm at home v. the Celts, whereas they only scored about 77 pts/gm on the road v. the Celts. Definitely not championship caliber road play huh? I expect Lebron to make more jumpers, thus freeing up the lanes for his mammoth dunks and acrobatic layups. Lebron scores 27, Cavs win by 9.
As for the Magic v. Pistons...
No Billups= no win. Period. Any combo of Lindsey or Rodney at the point will not bode well for Detroit. They would be smart to have Prince be responsible for the bulk of the ball handling duties. And with Prince playing the 1 and spending a lot more energy than usual, a guy like Jarvis Hayes or Juan Dixon should be given some minutes to add some scoring punch on the perimeter. But these ideas are probably moot, as Billups is the leader of the team, and the Piston’s struggle without his presence. I would be stunned if Billups played, considering Game 5 is on Tuesday and Game 4 isn’t necessarily a must win for the Pistons. They’d be better off just resting Billups for 3 more days and having him close to or at 100% for Game 5. But I'm not Flip Saunders!
