I'm sure you heard the bad news today but retired NBA basketball player Wayman Tisdale has died today at the young age of 44. Tisdale was the 2nd pick in the 1st round of the 1985 NBA Draft for the Indiana Pacers. He also spent time with the Sacremento Kings and the Phoneix Suns before retiring to become a smooth jazz bass guitarist. He won a gold medal in the 1984 Olympics and spent 12 years in the NBA.
Tisdale was born in Forth Worth, Texas on June 9th, 1964 and went to Oklahoma University where he put the Sooners back on the map as a National Powerhouse. He was a three- time all american and still holds the record for most points scored in his freshman and sophmore seasons. His best season in the NBA was the 1989-90 season when he average 22.3 points a game and 7.5 rebounds. In March of 2007 Tisdale went in to the hospital and got chemotherapy for the cancer in his knee. In which a portion of his leg had to be amputated so the cancer would not return. On May 15th he was admitted to the hospital for breathing problems and ended up passing away.
May God rest your soul Mr. Tisdale thank you for all your service with your foundation, time in the NBA, and your Jazz music R.I.P
