This NBA season has been a wild one. Take the Lakers for example. Their season started out with turmoil and tribulation, mostly stemming from, at the time, an arrogant and selfish Kobe Bryant. Not many predicted the Lakers would end up in the top 4 in the West, let alone the 1st seed.
It just all came together for LA. Kobe did his thing, Derek Fisher, Luke Walton, Ronny Turiaf and Jordan Farmar also held their own. Of course the X factor for this team is Lamar Odom, potentially the most valuable point forward in the league. But the key, the ultimate difference for the Lakers this year, was one, Andrew Bynum. NBA Nation thinks this guy has a future in the league. I believe he not only has a future, but a Top 50 player ever future.
But what made the season so spectacular was the sustainment of success LA had with Bynum out of the lineup for the last half of the season. But there was help, by way of a trade of course, one that sent a shockwave through the NBA, sending GM’s scampering to make trades just to keep up. Pau Gasol was the guy who officially put LA in contention. Andrew Bynum coming back healthy and productive will put them over the top. But they’d better get the same bench production they have all year. Not many teams can bring guys off the bench like Radmanovic, Farmar, Vujacic and Turiaf. And if they can drain their 3’s, lookout. Kobe for MVP. It’s about time.
